What to Support
Annual Giving Appeal – Every fall, parishioners are asked to make a financial pledge for the coming year to support the mission and ministries of St. Barnabas. This is how the bulk of our annual operating budget is funded. Our operating account pays our staff, maintains our property, and funds our outreach and mission.
Unrestricted Gifts – Any funds received, either in the offering plate or online, that are not marked for a specific purpose are used in the parish’s general operating account.
Designated Gifts – Gifts may be designated for a specific purpose. Possible designations are:
Memorial Fund: Gifts made in memory of departed loved ones are set aside in our Memorial Fund and used to maintain and replace items for sacred use, such as acolyte vestments and altar linens.
Capital Projects: We maintain a restricted fund for capital projects to improve our physical plant.
Music Fund: This fund helps maintain our excellent instruments.
Priest’s Discretionary Fund – Fr. Alex uses this account to make charitable gifts and assist people in need with things like utility bills or funeral expenses.
The St. Barnabas Endowment – Our endowment is an investment fund designed to receive gifts and bequests which are maintained on a long-term basis to support the church’s mission into the future. Each year, a percentage of the interest earned on the investments is distributed for use by the church. Click here to learn more about the St. Barnabas Endowment.
Fr. Alex, our Treasurer, and Vestry are always happy to answer questions about all aspects of the parish finances, giving, and long-term planning.
